Learn more about our passionate custom software company.
After graduating from college Rob went to work for a large commercial printing company in Los Alamitos, California called Trend Offset Printing. Even though he had been developing database applications with FoxPro while attending college (he still has the 3.5" floppy disks to prove it), Rob saw the need for automation at Trend. Everything was still running on spreadsheets, even though trend was approaching $100M in sales. In the evening Rob began developing custom database applications to manage and track cost accounting, environmental reporting, and other printing facets of Trend's growing businesses. Rob was promoted to Cost Accounting Manager, which is pretty unusual right out of college, but Rob discovered that his true passion was for software development, mainly involving database technology. Within a couple years Rob left Trend to start his own software company, originally called DataVision Development Inc.
Our first office, located in Santa Fe Springs, California. We had enough room for two desks, a whiteboard and a refrigerator!
We weren't in business for more than year or so when we got the call. Universal Studios needed help tracking costs for a $2B project.
You may have heard of a thing called the Y2K bug. Basically, all the software written by mankind up until December 31, 1999 was rock-solid, but on January 1, 2000 all those applications were going to stop running. Fortunately for us, we hadn't built enough applications at that point to freak out, but we did get involved in a few that other people created. Once we'd saved mankind for certain destruction we spent the majority of the decade creating a pretty cool software development manifesto called the 4D Methodology, and wrote a popular software library called dvLib. Maybe you've heard of it? We also worked for a few high profile clients, including Quiksilver, CBS Radio, the State of California, and a bunch of startups. Somewhere along the way Rob decided to go on a 6 month vacation and take his family to Europe. They went to the Running of the Bulls, and no, Rob didn't run. He's a programmer, remember? They also ended up in the middle of Normandy during the 60th anniversary commemorating the invasion. Here are a few photos of their trip. And yes, those are bulls, and that's the Queen, Tony Blair and Jacques Chirac. You can see Rob's wife and daughter looking at him, wondering if they are all going to jail. Great trip!
A lot has changed since those early morning programming sessions while working for Trend, but a lot has stayed the same as well. Rob's passion for software development is as strong as ever, and he hires people who share that passion. We still focus on database development, although long gone are the days of developing applications with FoxPro. Our team have grown a bit, too, although Rob wants to keep MyProgrammer small and personal. We've been recognized by several publications, including CIO Review, and a leading college textbook called Understanding Computers.

I’ve been meaning to get back to you regarding a testimonial. I would love to give you a testimonial, however since we do not have an industry exclusive clause with you, upper management fears our ruthless competitors will figure it out and start using you as well to become as productive as we are now becoming!
We developed a great partnership with Rob and the MP team. They are dedicated to understanding our internal processes and the requirements for our Partner Portal website. We appreciate their attention to detail, timely delivery and their post development support is OUTSTANDING. I would definitely recommend their services to other colleagues.
