Custom Software Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions (12)

We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 6PM Mountain time, which equates to 7:30AM to 5PM Pacific and 10:30AM to 8PM Eastern. Of course, if there is a need to schedule a conference call outside our normal business hours, I will do my best to accommodate.

We are located approximately 30 miles west of Denver, in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado.

I founded the company in 1990 (then called DataVision Development), later renaming it to MyProgrammer. I've been developing custom database applications since the 1980's.

Yep. We are a U.S. corporation based in Colorado, although much of the programming is done overseas.

Absolutely. We have clients all over the USA, as well as overseas.

It depends on our workload, but usually we can start within 2-3 weeks.

That is your choice, but I'd love to meet you and your team at some point during project development. I would be happy to come out at the start of the project, somewhere in the middle, and at the end. I invoice for travel, lodging and meal expenses, and for any time and materials incurred.  Of course, most conversations are done over the phone throughout the SDLC.

You do. We design and build it. You own it.

That is a hard question to answer. It will depend on the specific requirements of your project, the complexity, and the number of systems we need to interface with. But generally speaking, most projects take 6 months or longer to complete.

We are happy to work with businesses of any size, but our rate structure tends to be a challenge for some small businesses. But we have and continue to work with clients of any size.

It all depends.  If you prefer, we can have U.S. programmers work on your project. But for most clients, the cost savings from using offshore talent is too significant to overlook. Of course, regardless of the option you choose, I'll be designing, project managing, and reviewing every step of the process.

Every member of our team is required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Details related to your project are given out strictly on a need to know basis. Live data is always accessed from your system only, and only myself and my system administrator will have access to it.

That is a hard question to answer. The cost of your software project will depend on several factors, including its size and complexity. But generally speaking, most applications cost $100,000 or more. We have, however, worked on projects that have been significantly more and less expensive than that. After we complete the design for your project, we'll give you a realistic cost estimate.

We bill on a time and material basis, and prefer a retainer covering the first 80 hours of work. But this issue is negotiated on a client-by-client basis.

We are a software company, not a bank. But given the massive amount of bailout money going to them lately, maybe we should reconsider the line of work we are in. All joking aside, no, we don't offer financing. But the cost of your project will be spread over several months.

We bill on a time and material basis, typically twice each month. But we understand that every business is different, so this is negotiated on a client-by-client basis at the start of the project.

Technical Questions (7)

Of course. All projects come with completely documented source code, in addition to all technical documents created in connection with your project.

Who said anything about being a specialist? We focus on the leading Microsoft and Open Source technologies, including .NET, SQL Server, Ruby, PHP, and more.

We mainly create enterprise class database applications integrating either web and/or desktop capabilities.

We remotely log into your system (with your permission, of course) and install the server components. The client software, if needed, can be installed using a central installation routine. It's pretty simple, but we will walk you through the process.

What sort of shop do you think we are running here? Of course. At the completion of the project you will be provided with all documents related to your project, including the Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, Prototypes, Data Dictionary, ER Diagrams, Source Code, and other artifacts.

Okay, exactly how much of this site have you read so far? But seriously, yes. That has been our main focus for 20 years.

What kind of IT company do you think we are? Of course we do. Simply call our 800 number, select the support option, and we will expedite your issue. Or better yet, just call my direct line at 800.984.6977 Ext. 708. I'll make sure it gets immediate attention.
